Stamp Out Hunger: What Foods to Give

| May 7, 2014

This Saturday, May 10th is the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. The National Association of Letter Carriers makes it really easy to join in the food drive and give to your local community – simply fill a bag (or two) with non-perishable food items and leave them at your mailbox. The letter carrier will deliver your bag to a local food bank or pantry. Easy!

MAZON believes that we can end hunger by ensuring that hungry people have access to the nutritious food they need today and working to develop and advance long-term solutions so that no one goes hungry tomorrow.

We reached out to some of our grantee partners – food banks and food pantries across the country – to find out what items they need and want for their clients. We urge you to choose nutritious, healthy items that your family would eat!

Can I donate cans of dog food along with my cans of people food?

      Hi Tammy,
It’s best to check with your local food bank – some do and some don’t! How thoughtful of you!

Also check with your local humane society/animal shelter/animal care and control. The shelter in my area takes pet food and distributes it to low-income families.
