Ruth Laibson, Vice Chair

Ruth Laibson, from Haverford, Pennsylvania, is a community activist in the Greater Philadelphia region. Most recently, she served for eleven years as executive director of the Interfaith Council on the Holocaust.

Ruth’s volunteer roles in the Jewish community have included the presidency of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Philadelphia. She has served on the boards of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, the Auerbach Central Agency for Jewish Education, the Interfaith Center of Greater Philadelphia, the New Israel Fund Philadelphia Regional Council and the Lower Merion Library Foundation Campaign Committee, the Jewish Social Policy Action Network and MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger.

A graduate of the Juilliard School in New York City, Ruth is a concert pianist who, along with her identical twin sister, Naomi, performed and recorded with Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. She and her husband, Peter, a retired ophthalmologist, have three children and three grandchildren.
