Every year on Purim, we reflect on the powerful story of Esther — called on by her community and at great personal risk, she took the mantle of leadership and advocated to change the fate of those who were marginalized. In her spirit, we hope you will utilize MAZON’s Purim materials for your family or community celebrations and contact MAZON staff with any questions.

Purim Carnival Activity

With a nod to the traditional Purim mitzvah of Mishloach Manot (gifts of fruit), pass out MAZON’s stress-ball fruit while educating your community about the injustice of hunger.

Many of us participate in Mishloach Manot and Matanot L'evyonim (gifts of food and charity) during the season of Purim. Please consider taking this one step further by fundraising for MAZON's work to change the systems and policies that allow hunger to persist.

Sharing stories of people struggling with food insecurity is a powerful way to help your community better understand the realities of who is hungry in America today and why. MAZON’s This Is Hunger program includes stories that are ideal for sharing in sermons or Purim study sessions.

This is Hunger

Food is so expensive on the reservation, and our food stamps only last about two weeks. When they run out, I go out and sell beadwork really cheap, just so I can continue to feed my family.
