Lawmakers in Washington, D.C. are in the final stages of negotiating the 2018 Farm Bill, a massive piece of legislation that—among other things—provides structure and funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the cornerstone of our nation’s nutrition safety net. House and Senate conferees are now hashing out a compromise bill that must pass both chambers—without amendments—before being sent to the President’s desk.
MAZON supports this legislation, which largely follows the Senate’s bipartisan proposals and avoids the ideological agenda put forth by the House, which would have negatively impacted millions of Americans including single mothers, seniors, veterans and military families, Native Americans, working families, and more.
Now, each chamber must pass the bill before the president can sign it into law. Please join MAZON in urging all Members of Congress to pass the Farm Bill reauthorization bill as soon as possible.
We need you to join our nationwide effort to protect and strengthen SNAP in the 2018 Farm Bill—before it’s too late.
For months, we at MAZON have been working steadfastly in pursuit of a Farm Bill that protects against hunger by strengthening SNAP and other federal nutrition assistance programs—and opposing any proposals that would add to the problem of hunger in this country. We will continue to support common-sense solutions and oppose any policies that would hurt single mothers, children, military families, older Americans, rural communities, and working people.
