MAZON Gift Acceptance Policy
Thank you for your interest in supporting MAZON. To ensure we direct our resources toward maximizing our program impact, we have established clear guidelines regarding the types of financial contributions we can and cannot accept.
If you or your financial advisor need more information or instructions to make a gift, please contact our team directly at mazon@mazon.org or (800) 813-0557.
Assets We Accept
We are fully equipped to accept and process the following contributions:
Online Cash Gifts
Secure, immediate donations can be made directly through our website via credit card, debit card, ACH, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and more. You can make your online gift here.
Checks
Personal, corporate, or cashier’s checks made payable to our organization can be mailed to our donation processor at the following address:
MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger
PO Box 6095
Albert Lea, MN 56007
Publicly Traded Securities (Stocks & Bonds):
We accept gifts of publicly traded stocks and bonds. Transferring appreciated securities directly to us can allow you to avoid capital gains taxes while claiming a full fair-market-value tax deduction. Per MAZON’s policy, your securities will be sold immediately upon transfer. Instructions to make a stock donation can be found here.
Donor Advised Funds (DAF)
We accept grant distributions from DAF sponsors. Please contact us when you make your recommendation so we can properly attribute and acknowledge your gift. Instructions to make a DAF recommendation can be found here.
Electronic Funds
We accept the electronic transfer of your funds. Instructions to make an electronic transfer can be found here.
Mutual Fund Units
We accept the transfer of mutual fund shares. Please note, because mutual fund transfers can take several weeks to process, we recommend initiating these gifts well ahead of year-end tax deadlines.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)
Donors aged 70 ½ or older can direct tax-free distributions to MAZON up to the legal annual limit directly from their Traditional IRA. Instructions to make a QCD can be found here.
Charitable Bequests
You can sustain our work for years to come by naming MAZON as a beneficiary in your will, living trust, or life insurance policy. We accept unrestricted estate distributions of cash or liquid securities. If you would like to include MAZON as a beneficiary of real estate, please get in touch with Rebecca Ward, Director of Leadership Giving (rward@mazon.org) before finalizing your plans. More information about planned gifts to MAZON can be found here.
Assets We Do Not Accept
To maintain administrative efficiency and minimize financial risk, we respectfully decline the following types of gifts:
Cryptocurrency & Digital Assets
We do not accept Bitcoin, Ethereum, or any other forms of cryptocurrency, digital tokens, or NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens).
Physical Items (Gifts-in-kind)
We do not accept tangible personal property, including but not limited to vehicles (cars, boats, airplanes), artwork, antiques, collectibles, jewelry, books, household goods, or food items.
Life Income Gifts
We do not participate in split-interest agreements that require the organization to manage or pay out an income stream, such as Charitable Gift Annuities (CGAs), Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRUTs/CRATs), or Pooled Income Funds.
Life Insurance Policies
We do not accept the transfer of ownership of active life insurance policies that require ongoing premium payments by the organization. Please note, donors are still welcome to name MAZON as a beneficiary of a policy.
Endowed Funds
We do not accept gifts structured as permanent endowments that require our organization to hold the principal intact in perpetuity. All accepted gifts are directed toward current operational or programmatic needs. If you have questions about longer-term donation strategies, please get in touch with Rebecca Ward, Director of Leadership Giving (rward@mazon.org) to discuss options.
