Following Court Rulings, Leading Anti-Hunger Advocate Demands Immediate and Full Funds for SNAP

November 3, 2025

Following a pair of federal court orders requiring the Trump administration and its U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to immediately release funds for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), officials indicated that they will only partially fund the program, despite the clear finding that they can legally make payments in full. MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger released the following statement demanding the administration fund SNAP in full for all participants and stop playing political games with innocent people’s lives.

MAZON President & CEO Abby J. Leibman stated:

“After two straightforward and consistent federal court orders, the next steps for the Trump administration are abundantly clear. It is time to stop tormenting the 42 million Americans who need food assistance and fully fund SNAP in the manner legally required. Not partial payments. Not late payments. Not in a day, or a week, or a month. Fully funded, immediately. The only ones attempting to muddy the waters, cause confusion, and create needless delays are Trump officials, who have taken every opportunity to play political games at the expense of hungry families.

“We have heard Trump’s glittering promises before, only to see his administration renege on those vows. Between this latest manufactured crisis and the pain already inflicted by this summer’s Republican budget cuts to critical programs like SNAP, the millions of American families struggling with food insecurity deserve better than the fear that’s been unleashed upon them. Fund SNAP, do it in its entirety, and do it immediately. This game must stop now.”
