In response to the ongoing hunger crisis in Gaza, MAZON and a coalition of our partners and grantees issued the following letter to members of the Knesset and Israeli government ministers, calling for immediate steps to provide all those living in hunger with immediate food aid. The letter reads:
We, organizations working to promote food security and social justice in Israel, feel a deep moral obligation to raise a clear and unwavering voice in light of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. We call for immediate actions to ensure adequate aid for all those suffering from hunger. As a result of the war, the Israeli hostages in Gaza, along with tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians — including children, women, and the elderly — are living in conditions of hunger and thirst.
As those who work daily to ensure accessible and adequate food for every person, we have a moral and human duty to prevent hunger, even in times of war.
We are on the brink of an unimaginable tragedy, and time is running out. We call on the Government of Israel, the international community, and all parties involved in what is happening in Gaza to:

- Allow safe, sustained, and sufficient entry of food, water, and humanitarian supplies into the Gaza Strip.
- Condemn the deliberate starvation of hostages by Hamas.
- Allow experienced and professional international bodies to manage food distribution.
- Enable urgent medical treatment for those harmed by hunger.
Food policy everywhere must be guided by principles of moral responsibility and human dignity.
