“This week’s markup in the House Agricultural Committee was filled with political charades by Republicans, many of whom did not even bother to show up for their work. They swooped in at the end to slash nearly $300 billion in food assistance for American families in order to extend tax cuts for the wealthy. We know there is a long road ahead, and we will fight this tooth and nail every step of the way. But make no mistake, every single member who voted for this bill just greenlit the destruction of SNAP. We will make sure they have nowhere to hide from the moral stain of this moment.”
