Following declarations that Donald Trump has won the 2024 presidential election, leading anti-hunger advocates from MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger vowed to continue to fight on behalf of the 47 million food insecure Americans nationwide. The national organization stated they would not waver in its mission to end hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds, regardless of who occupies the White House.

Abby J. Leibman, President & CEO of MAZON, stated:

“As advocates for our nation’s most vulnerable, we will not turn away, nor surrender to shock or anger or grief in the face of whatever comes. Our values as a Jewish organization ground us and give us strength and purpose in recognizing our obligation to all people who struggle. We have been actively preparing for this moment, and we are ready to respond to whatever may come with a commitment to justice that has been the foundation of our mission for decades.

“This year, MAZON marks our 40th anniversary. We have been through challenges and battles before, and we will see them again before our fight against hunger is through. While we may not know exactly what the next four years hold for us, we do know we have survived and surpassed administrations before who have shown contempt for the neediest among us. Our faith affirms that all people are B’tselem Elohim, created in the image of God. As such, we will continue to do everything in our power to secure a future where every person is able to feed themselves and their loved ones with dignity, even if those in higher office prove unwilling to join us in that effort.

“More than 47 million Americans are facing hunger today, and we will steadfastly oppose any legislative or regulatory effort that will increase that number. Whatever lies ahead, rest assured that we are prepared to continue our work with renewed vigor. We are not hopeless because we are not helpless. We have prepared for this moment, and we will always stand for those who need our support.

“We’ve been in this fight before. We’re ready to continue it now.”
