Anti-Hunger Advocates Mourn Loss of Trailblazing Congressman David Scott

Following the passing of Congressman David Scott of Georgia, former chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, advocates at MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger released the following statement commemorating his life and career.

MAZON President & CEO Abby J. Leibman stated:

“Congressman Scott was a champion for the anti-hunger movement throughout his career and a longtime friend of our organization. He was a true man of faith whose beliefs grounded his fight to protect SNAP and address the needs of all those facing food insecurity, including veterans and farmers. As the first Black chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, Rep. Scott was a trailblazer and leader in so many ways. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones today; may his memory be for a blessing.”
