MAZON Thanks Pelosi, Urges New House Democratic Leaders to Fight Hunger

November 30, 2022

The leading anti-hunger advocacy organization MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger today paid tribute to outgoing House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California and urged incoming House Democratic leaders Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York, Rep. Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, and Rep. Pete Aguilar of California to continue the Congressional fight against hunger.

“We are profoundly grateful for Speaker Pelosi’s decades of fighting for our nation’s families facing hunger,” said Abby J. Leibman, President & CEO of MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger. “Her wisdom, her strength and her compassion exemplify the best in leadership and our nation, particularly its families and their children are all stronger for her tenure in Congress.  Time and again, she made it a priority to defend and strengthen vital nutrition programs like SNAP, bringing both food security and dignity to those who are most vulnerable in America.”

“We also congratulate Representatives Jeffries, Clark, and Aguilar on their new leadership positions,” Leibman continued. “Each of these members has a strong record of defending our country’s safety net, which makes me confident that they will advance policies to help the millions of Americans facing hunger. We look forward to working with them to ensure that all Americans — regardless of circumstance — can feed themselves and their families.”
