she/her/hers

As Senior Outreach Manager, Tammy Metasabiya Habteyes implements MAZON’s priorities across the country through outreach to students and educators in grade school through college. Prior to joining MAZON, Tammy worked at TischPDX to support and bolster the leadership of young and unaffiliated Jews in Portland, OR. Tammy’s background is rooted in grassroots broadcast media and advocacy, which has been instrumental in shaping her approach to community building, emphasizing marginalized and youth voices, open dialogue, and direct action. She holds a BA in Political Science from University of Maryland Baltimore County [UMBC] and is a 2022-2023 graduate of the Western States Center’s Defending Democracy Fellowship– a program designed for organizers who are countering organized bigotry and seeking to build peer-to-peer relationships. Tammy is also the co-founder of the Jews of Color Collective, which co-published the 2023 Cultural Shift Survey, a community research project aimed to capture the demographics, experiences and needs of Jews of Color living in the Pacific Northwest. In her free time, Tammy enjoys collecting vinyl records, gardening, and volunteering.
