Daniel B. Ripps is the Principal of Gabai Strategic Advisors, a strategic advisory and consulting firm that works with philanthropic and business leaders, non-profit organizations and foundations and socially responsible and social impact businesses. He has over 30 years of leadership experience as an executive, consultant, advisor, and educator with broad expertise in organizational and program management; strategic planning and organizational design; evaluation and gap analysis; coaching and leadership development; program development; executive search, talent evaluation and executive transitions; resource development; and non-profit and social impact start-up ventures.
Previously, Daniel was a Vice President at DRG Search for over a decade where he led C-Suite executive search and consulting assignments for a wide range of local, national, and international institutions and organizations in the non-profit sector. Earlier Daniel was Director of Field Operations/Chief Professional Officer for Hadassah International; the Ralph I. Goldman Fellow in Global Jewish Leadership at the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC); Director of Agency & Program Services at the Food Bank for New York City; and National Director of the KADIMA Youth Organization/USCJ. From 1995 to 2005 he was an Adjunct Professor at New York University’s School of Culture, Education & Human Development, teaching graduate courses in Public Policy/Public Health with a special focus on food, nutrition, hunger, and agriculture policy.
In addition to his experience in North America, Daniel also has resident field experience working in Israel, the former Soviet Union, and Latin America working in the areas of community and economic development, education, program planning and social welfare.
Daniel is a past Board Chair of Hunger Free America. He previously served on the Board of Directors of Congregation Shaare Zedek in New York City. He has been a Finalist Judge and “Brain Trust” mentor for the Echoing Green Foundation’s Social Entrepreneur Fellowships. Daniel has a MPA from Columbia University’s School of International & Public Affairs and a BA in History and Political Science and Certificate in Jewish Studies from the University of Pittsburgh.
He lives with his wife and sons in New York City.
