MAZON needs your support to end hunger in the United States and Israel. When we fight hunger together, it doesn’t stand a chance.
Caring for the poor has been part of Jewish life-cycle celebrations since Abraham and Sarah first opened the sides of their tents and provided food and drink to all who passed by. In the shtetls of Eastern Europe, wedding feasts were not permitted to begin until the poor of the community had been served their meals. When Jews came to America from every corner of the world, they carried a wealth of Jewish traditions. Chief among these was the obligation to ensure that people suffering from hunger had access to food.
In our modern world, we cannot invite every hungry person in our communities to join our celebrations — weddings, engagements, anniversaries, graduations, retirements, britot Milah, baby namings, and b’nai mitzvah. But for over three decades, the Jewish community has upheld this ancient tradition symbolically, by donating 3% of the cost of events to MAZON’s efforts to end hunger. Please contact Nicole Tafoya, Deputy Director of Development, for more information.
Include MAZON in Your Bar/Bat Mitzvah
MAZON’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah Project encourages students to find personally meaningful ways to incorporate Tzedakah (charity) into their new lives as adults.
Our program is designed for students to mix and match Tzedekah & tikkun olam opportunities to create a partnership with MAZON that is unique for each young adult.

Inspire and Honor Your Guests
Donate 3%: It is customary for couples to give Tzedakah on their wedding day to share their blessings and begin their marriage with a mitzvah. Consider donating 3% of what you will spend on your wedding to MAZON.
Ask your guests to contribute to MAZON in lieu of giving you a wedding gift. We can help you set up your own online donation page to track and manage the gifts that your guests make on your behalf.
Make a gift to MAZON to honor the friends and family who share your special day with you. You can display centerpiece cards and individual place cards to recognize your gift.
Order Materials
MAZON can provide Tzedakah boxes and other materials for your home, synagogue, or classroom, or to be used during your holiday celebrations, simchas, and fundraising events. Request materials online here or by calling our office at (800) 813-0557.
Invite MAZON to your Event
Many reception hosts symbolically invite MAZON to their celebration by displaying our table cards. We have two sizes available — individual place cards (2” x 4” when folded) for each guest and centerpiece cards (6 ¼” x 4 ½” when folded) to display in the middle of each table. Request cards here.
