Carolyn Tisdale graduated from Cornell University in 1981. She received her JD from Boston University in 1986 and her LLM in Taxation from New York University in 1989.
Previously, she was the general counsel for LarC Properties where she provided legal counsel for a business enterprise that acquires and rehabilitates affordable housing. Prior to that position, she was an attorney at Seyburn, Kahn specializing in taxation and estate planning. She also served on the international tax staff of General Motors.
Carolyn is currently the President of Hebrew Free Loan, an organization that provides interest free loans to Jewish persons in need. She is a past chairperson of the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit, a grant making organization focusing on addressing the needs of Jewish women and girls. She also serves on the Board of Governors of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and the Board of Women’s Philanthropy of the Detroit Jewish Federation, where she has served as co-chair of the Sabra Division and the Lion of Judah Division. She is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Chapter of the American Technion Society.
Carolyn resides in West Bloomfield, Michigan. She has three children, Jason (23), Rachel (21) and Lauren (21).
