For more than 50 years, Ted played a defining role in the American Jewish community. He served at the helm of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, the National Conference on Soviet Jewry, the American Jewish Congress, the Israel Policy Forum, and Project Nishma, which was created to encourage American Jewish organizations to be more supportive of the Middle East peace process. Ted was MAZON’s founding chair and a trustee of the New Israel Fund.
Ted practiced law in Philadelphia until his retirement in 2007. He argued before the United States Supreme Court and has been widely published on legal, international, and Jewish communal matters. He authored “If I Am Only For Myself…,” a 2012 memoir describing the American Jewish community’s pursuit of social justice.
