Food Insecurity in the Military and Veteran Population

On this episode of Behind the Mission, producer and host Duane France is in conversation with Josh Protas, Vice President of Public Policy of MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger, a national organization fighting to end hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds in the United States and Israel. They discuss food insecurity in the military and veteran population and what organizations like MAZON are doing to bring awareness and suggest solutions to the problem.

You can take the course discussed in the episode, and developed in partnership with PsychArmor, here. The course is intended to help you understand how food insecurity happens and offer solutions to this problem. By the end of the course, you should be able to understand what food security means, recognize how veterans and their families can become food insecure, and determine ways you can help veterans in your community be food secure. The course is introduced by Senator Tammy Duckworth.
