MAZON COVID-19 Update with Rep. Marcia Fudge (OH-11)

April 1, 2020

On April 1, 2020, MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger held a special This Is Hunger: Calls for Action conference call to discuss growing hunger concerns in the wake of COVID-19. The call featured Congresswoman Marcia Fudge (OH-11), Chair of the House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Nutrition, Oversight, and Department Operations, along with Abby J. Leibman, MAZON’s President & CEO, Josh Protas, MAZON’s Vice President of Public Policy, and Mia Hubbard, MAZON’s Vice President of Programs.

Congresswoman Fudge shared insight about how the pandemic is impacting Americans across the country who struggle with food security, which was followed by a discussion about what more is needed to strengthen programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Following the Congresswoman’s remarks, MAZON experts discussed the urgent policies that are still necessary to ensure that all Americans — including veterans, Native Americans, seniors, and college students — can access the nutrition assistance they need to feed themselves and their families.
