On September 1st, experts from MAZON discussed recent developments in anti-hunger policy, including historic updates to SNAP — our country’s most effective tool to combat hunger. A full recording of the event is available here.

The COVID-19 pandemic has wrought enduring devastation across many measures, but the before and after picture of food insecurity is truly stark. As the ebb and flow of the virus has taken and changed lives, hunger now affects almost 80 million Americans.

The demands of advocates have finally been heard in light of this unprecedented need, and met with a sea change in policy. We explored what these historic changes to SNAP mean for food-insecure Americans, and how we can continue to respond as a community to protect that basic dignity — feeding yourself and your family without stress or fear.
